Miss Polk County

Miss Polk County Contestants are required to:

 
  • Be between the ages of 17 (Senior in High School) and 24 as of June 1, 2017
  • Live, work, or attend school in Iowa
  • Meet  the character criteria set forth by the Miss America Organization
  • Be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities as Miss Polk County, including being able to compete in the Miss Iowa Pageant to be held in June, 2017
 
 

Miss Polk County Areas of Competition:

 
 
  • Private Interview: 25%
  • On-Stage Question: 5%
  • Talent: 35%
  • Evening Wear: 20%
  • Lifestyle & Fitness in Swimsuit: 15%

 

Each Miss Polk County Contestant Must:

 

1. Select a platform that has relevance to her community and that she cares deeply about.  To showcase her knowledge and concern for her platform, she will compose a one-page platform statement about the issue, why she selected it, how she has been involved in making an impact, and how she plans to grow and expand upon that impact.

 

2. Compose and submit a one-page resume including information about her education, platform, scholastic/career ambition, talent, scholastic honors, leadership roles, accomplishments, interesting facts, employment, and an answer to 3 questions regarding values and community engagement/awareness.

 

3. Raise $100 for Children's Miracle Network

 

4. Create a Bid-a-Basket for silent auction at Miss Polk County Pageant

 

***There is no charge to compete in the Miss division of the Miss Polk County Scholarhip Pageant.

 

 

 

Miss Polk County's Outstanding Teen

 

Miss Polk County's Outstanding Teen Contestants are required to:

 

  • Be between the ages of 13 and 17 years old and no more than junior in High School by June 1, 2017
  • Live, work or attend school in Iowa
  • Meet character criteria that is set forth by the Miss America Organization
  • Be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities as Miss Polk County's Outstanding Teen, including being able to compete in Miss Iowa's Outstanding Teen Pageant in June, 2017

 

Miss Polk County's Outstanding Teen Areas of Competition:

 

  • Private Interview:  30%
  • Physical Fitness in Sportswear:  10%
  • Talent (90 second maximum):  35%
  • Evening Wear & On-Stage Question: 20%
  • Scholastic Achievement: 5%     


Each Miss Polk County's Outstanding Teen Contestant Must:

 

1. Submit a report card for 7th & 8th grade, or, if in high school, supply a sealed transcript to be evaluated by an independent educator.

2. Select a platform that has relevance to her community and that she cares deeply about.  To showcase her knowledge and concern for her platform, she will compose a one-page platform statement about the issue, why she selected it, how she has been involved in making an impact, and how she plans to grow and expand upon that impact.

3. Compose and submit a one-page resume including information about her education, platform, scholastic/career ambition, talent, scholastic honors, leadership roles, accomplishments, interesting facts, employment, and an answer to 3 questions regarding values and community engagement/awareness.

4. Pay an entry fee of $125.00

5. Create a Bid-a-Basket for silent auction at Miss Polk County Pageant

Once you complete this Contestant Information Form, the other paperwork will be sent to your email address.
